First, here is the video from tonight's deadlift workout. This video marks the arrival of the iPhone 4's 720p capabilities and an on-phone editor. I am hoping to really start capturing a lot more vids.
Also, it is time to welcome new 'official' TBB members Mike Biven and Greg Alvarado. They survived the first month without pissing me off too bad so they can stay :)
Secondly: we have just completed the first 4 week training wave. All of our lifts have now arranged themselves into a 3 on 1 off pattern.
The squat worked out well. We have 3 mini-groups working together, and I have been very surprised at how efficient folks are getting training in their gear. Remember, 2 of the 3 weeks are in suits. The training time on Saturday is down to about 2 hrs per group, with an extra hr in there for helping the other groups. So far so good. No changes really necessary here. My feeling is we will ride out the chain waves all the way into Georgia unless we get stale, with maybe a band or two thrown in for some speed or variation on week 1 of 3.
The bench press is starting to come along. A small subset of us decided to add an extra day in to try out a scaled down version of Rob Luyando's bench press program. There is a raw day where we do top-end board work and 'speed' work along with a shirt day which is heavy doubles and singles to either the chest or all the way up to a 2 board. Adding another day in has been a little challenging as folks are already coming in a lot, but I can already see it paying off. People's raw strength is going up, the shirt workouts are done very quickly because that is all we do that day and we are moving fast, and the team enthusiasm for bench is returning.
The deadlift is actually what I am most pleased with. As I have mentioned before, there is no perfect routine for everyone. However, there are 'themes'. The theme at TBB has been we work together on Tuesday night and try to get into our suits twice a month. We have also been doing good mornings and low pin pulls on the alternate days along with the usual assistance work. I am seeing everyone make progress, although there are a few low back tweaks here and there. We are going to force ourselves to take a deload on this one as well.
Anyway, NGBB meet is now 10 weeks away and it is time to U.T.F.D. and get ready!
